Does my car need extra sensors?

Park Assist uses the parking sensors your vehicle was built with. Your VIN check confirms whether your build has everything it needs before you order.

Will it survive a software update at the dealer?

Yes. This is a factory configuration change, not a patch, so dealer and over-the-air updates leave it in place.
