Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control

Off-road cruise control that adjusts speed to the terrain

Available on

Adaptive off-road cruise control is an aid to off-road driving. When activated, the system attempts to maintain a constant vehicle speed. The system automatically reduces the vehicle’s speed if more challenging conditions are met. The reduction in speed is based on the selected comfort setting. The system automatically raises the vehicle’s speed back to the set speed once the challenges have been successfully negotiated.

Adaptive off-road cruise control provides two modes of operation:

  1. Descent control mode. See DESCENT CONTROL MODE.
  2. Full function mode. See FULL FUNCTION MODE.

Adaptive off-road cruise control full function mode offers a number of different comfort settings. The selected comfort setting determines the amount of acceleration and braking used when the vehicle is travelling off-road. See COMFORT SETTINGS.

Adaptive off-road cruise control also works in conjunction with the terrain response system. Different acceleration rates are applied based on the selected driving program. For example, the grass gravel snow driving program requires the system to apply gentle vehicle acceleration. The comfort driving program requires the system to apply a greater rate of vehicle acceleration. See TERRAIN RESPONSE OPERATION.

The instrument panel displays warning and information messages to make sure the full benefits of adaptive off-road cruise control are realised.
